Challenge Family announces $1million prize purse as part of Triple Crown series

During the Awards Ceremony of inaugural Challenge Bahrain,  his Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa announced not only two more events in the region with similar $ 500,000 price purses like the Baharain event. Challenge Dubai and Challenge Oman will offer a staggering $ 1,000,000 for the triple winner prize pool. This will change the season for many talented 70.3 athletes and puts pressure on competing series like Ironman 70.3 or even Ironman Hawaii World Championship. Full press release below.

Challenge Family announces $1million prize purse as part of Triple Crown series 
The record-breaking Challenge Bahrain wrapped today with an announcement that has set the benchmark in global endurances sport. At the Challenge Bahrain Awards Ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa announced plans for the Challenge Triple Crown, a series of three half-distance triathlons culminating with a grand final in Challenge Bahrain in December 2015. 
Challenge Dubai, Challenge Bahrain, under the Crown Prince patronage of His Royal Highness Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the newly revealed Challenge Oman will form the Triple Crown game changing series. Challenge Dubai and Challenge Oman will each have a significant prize purse while Challenge Bahrain will once make triathlon history with a Triple Crown Grand Final prize purse of US$1,000,000 . 
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of The Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, said the continued partnership with Challenge Family was driven by a desire to inspire the region’s citizens by staging a world class event open to public participation. 
“We have always been committed to host world-class sport events in The Kingdom of Bahrain and now we can extend this to our neighbours in Oman and Dubai. Each race will provide our youth and sports communities the opportunity to experience what the world has to offer at their arms reach. Challenge Family CEO, Zibi Szlufcik, said the announcement was just the start of an exciting new era in triathlon, not just in the Middle East but globally.
